‘It can be a bit of a washing machine at the start, so just find your space and race your own race’, a triathlon friend said to me. I am at the starting line: wetsuit on, goggles on (fog, of course), surrounded by fellow athletes, there are people everywhere! Am on the right side of the starting group, a bit towards the back. I feel good, fit and energetic, and I know that the swim is my strongest discipline. Since it is my first triathlon, my motto is to ‘have fun and finish!’.

Following the recent accidents with cyclists and some of the conversations in the ladies changing rooms after swimming training, I wrote this with the intent that it may give invite us to embrace our fears and get back into doing something that we thoroughly enjoy: cycling…

The Netherlands is, and has been for a long time, one of the most advanced countries to protect and create a safe environment for its cyclists. As Dutch, we do, and carry, everything on our bicycle, from grocery bags to umbrella’s to children. We learned to ride at the age of 3. So did I.

Our clubs’ members, Sofia MatsiPermaculture Designer and a firm supporter of natural wholesome nutrition with the participation of our health, nutrition & wellness expert, Barbara Karafokas, will guide you through the simple steps to make your own homemade Energy Bars with pure and easy-to-find ingredients.

The workshop will take place at TZITZIKAS tavern in Strovolos on Saturday,January 23 2016.

Workshop will begin at 10am (just enough time to swim, shower and join the fun!).

Cost of attendance will be 2 euros per person and you are welcome to bring along family members and friends who might be interested to join.
